The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is one of the nine regional development agencies in the UK.
EEDA’s role is to make the East of England a better place to live, work, visit and invest.
EEDA works across a number of areas:
• developing the economy, places and society in the region
• supporting businesses
• helping people learn
• creating jobs and making the region a good place to work
• doing all this in a sustainable way

What is EEDA doing as an organisation to tackle climate change?
At EEDA, we are actively reducing our own carbon footprint and we are committing to become a carbon neutral organisation by 2010.
We believe in leading by example and are now working hard to ensure our employees are aware of what they can do both at home and at work to reduce their carbon impact.
An environmental management system has been introduced and we have been awarded the recognised industry standard of ISO 14001. This standard commits us to continual improvement year on year and we will be independently audited.
Our current priorities are reducing our our energy use, our travel emissions, and re-using or recycling as much of our waste as possible.
Regional Economic Strategy
The regional economic strategy sets out economic objectives for the East of England and how these can be achieved. EEDA works with other regional organisations to ensure that clear priorities for improving the East of England are developed and met.
The new strategy for the period 2008 - 2031 is published in September 2008 and driving sustainable economic growth is a key priority. For more information on the RES click here.
